South London rockers Status Quo are practically a national
institution, and have had a five-decade career as one of
Britain's most successful and beloved acts. Starting in
the late 1960s as a psychedelic outfit and always maintaining
a discreet distance from musical trends like disco, punk,
and '80s new wave, the no-nonsense boogie-rock sound the
band adopted in the mid-'70s has proved surprisingly timeless.
